This page is dedicated to my little Jack Russell Terrier, Brandy.
Having never had the pleasure of training a dog smarter than this little Einstein, I am constantly wowed by this little dogs
intelligence and tenacity. Brandy is, as are many individuals of this breed, exceptionally smart, willful, bold, determined,
independent and, well, terrierish. Jack Russell Terriers are fantastic sport and performance dogs, excelling at events such
as agility, flyball, tracking, go-to-ground, hunting, lure coursing, racing, obedience, rally-o and more!
This breed is not for the faint of heart, and does not do well when left to their own devices without training or enough exercise.
They thrive on "thinking" activities, and house tonnes of energy in their little bodies. They are the ultimate BIG dog in
a small package.
Brandy has an absolutely fantastic personality for performance, friendly, bold, outgoing, with high play, prey and food drives,
as well as being a solid nerved little dog. The above makes her exceptionally easy to train and an overall great little working
dog.
So far Brandy has excelled at the beginning of her agility career, with two titles in only three trials, and hopefully many
more to come. We have been competing for a year and a half year now, and she has shown amazing skill in the AAC competition,
as well as the CPE venues.
With some refresher obedience and the help of Anne at Campaign Dog Academy, Brandy and I have achieved our first CARO RALLY-O
title - Novice Rally MCL - three rounds, each with 197 points, something I never dreamed we'd be involved in. We are looking
forward to competing for our advanced title. Brandy and I will be attending Canada Cup 2008 at Royackers Kennels.
Brandy has also shown promise in the sport of disc dog, gaining her RPT (Retrieval Proficiency Test) at the 2007 AAC Nationals
with CDDA (Canadian Disc Dog Association).
